OLD EAST VILLAGE MAP
ARCHITECTURE
Over the second semester of their capstone course, the fourth-year cohort completed a community-engaged project in cooperation with the Old East Village Business Improvement Association (OEV BIA). The project is entitled “The Role of Diversity and Perception of Inclusivity in a Neighbourhood.”
The project’s goal was to create a clear analysis of diversity in the context of community, specifically a neighbourhood, examined through businesses and organizations present. This analysis addressed what drew businesses/organizations to their location, whether they feel integrated into the community, and how these businesses/organizations impact public perceptions of diversity and inclusion in Old East Village. Following this analysis, the students worked in subgroups to complete an integrated report and presentation, a promotional campaign, and an artwork. These aim to assist with advocacy, promotion, communication and expression, regarding the mandates of the OEV BIA and the positive interests of the neighborhood, including its businesses and related organizations. The final submissions of each group can be found below.
